Taking it Back

When to place your heart in the hands of someone else, when to decide it’s time to start talking about things like the future, about hopes and dreams, and ultimately about love: those aren’t easy decisions to make in a relationship, so even though I’d fallen for Joanie rather quickly, I was careful to move slowly and to give her the time she said she needed which is why the phone call came as such a surprise.

“Josh, it’s difficult for me to say, but as much as I’ve enjoying seeing you these last few months, we, uh… Josh, we have to talk.”

“By phone, Joanie? You’re breaking up with me by phone?”
