And So It Began . . .
The Blog-A-Rhythm Wordy Wednesday Prompt #5
This Week: Sentence Prompt: Let’s paint the town red!
And So It Began
“Let’s paint the town red,” said Ed Williams.
“Why red? Oh, never mind, forget I asked. I already know.”
“What?”
“It your primary color “thing” again.”
“What do you mean, ‘My Primary Color Thing’?”
Henry Sherwin looked up from his game of solitaire. “Seriously?” he said. “Can you tell me the last time you didn’t wear a shirt that was some shade of green? And look at your house, is there a room that’s not painted blue? And what about your car, hmm?”
“You mean my ’73 Pinto?”
“And what’s your ’73 Pinto’s name, Ed?”
“Lil Red.”
“I rest my case.”
“So? What’s the big…”
“And now you want to paint the town red. There’re over 10 million colors out there, Ed, and it’s always red, green and blue with you. Red, green and blue. Blah, blah and blah. It’s enough to drive a person crazy!”
“You said ten million colors?”
“Over ten million, Ed”. Give one a try sometime, why don’t you?”
And so was born Sherwin-Williams, the largest paint producer in the world.
175 words.
Side note: I used to work for Sherwin Williams way back in something like 1975. I can honestly say that there’s nothing fun about unloading a truck full of cases that hold four gallons of paint each. But you know those paint shaker things? There is something kind of fun about that one time you didn’t quite seat the can correctly and it flies out of the shaker and falls on the floor and explodes and covers the floor, the workbench, your shoes, pants and apron with paint.
LOL! 73 Pinto. I forgot about those. Hahaha!
