How are you brave?
How are you brave?
We can define or perceive bravery may ways, but for me, I don’t believe a person can be brave unless they’re frightened. If a person has a fear, rational or irrational, and pushes through, if they act in spite of the fear, then they’re brave.
Mine isn’t an original thought, it’s just one that I agree with and one that’s been said by others with much more experience with bravery and courage than me.
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” – Nelson Mandela
So, to answer the Bloganuary question for today: “How are you brave?”, the answer is with a lot of difficulty. And persistence. If not today, then tomorrow. If not tomorrow, then…
“The fear itself is the vanguard of wisdom, or the vanguard of courage.” – Pema Chödrön
Persistence = growth. Happy New Year! 🎉
