Memories
Today Bloganuary asks: “What is the earliest memory you have?”
The question isn’t specific as to time, so I won’t talk about that embarrassing afternoon when I was a little over two hours old and my grandmother picked me up just as I had the urge to use the diaper. If I remember correctly, no one was happy. Instead, I’ll talk about my earliest memory of January 3, 2023, which is of waking up at 2:24 AM and thinking, “Do I really have to drive to and from work in this (two very bad words used here, one ended in “ing” and the other only had four letters)?” The storm is supposed to bring us 3” to 7” of snow today, and another 1” to 3” tonight and then 1” to 3” more tomorrow. That’s a fair chunk of snow.
Here’s a beautiful song from Guy Clark from 2013. He’s singing about memories of his wife of 40 years, Susanna, who had died the year before.
Snow’s very pretty, if you’ve got nowhere you need to be.
Sweet song!

It’s pretty on TV, but in person…? Even with no place to go, what if the roof caves in, or what if the power goes out, or what if —
Guy Clark is a wonderful poet. I think all of his songs are just beautiful.

I so relate to not wanting to go out in winter sometimes, and the call of the warm blankets and a book.
Makes the weekends just that much more special.
May you have an awesome holiday to make up for it.
