Purport (64)

March 12, 2022

I once knew a woman named Amy.
She swore she would never betray me.
But despite her purport,
I can right now report,
in the end all she did was just play me.

Dear Amy,
I hope you are well.
I really thought you were swell.
To me
you were like a
little piece of heaven.
But,
then,
what did I know at eleven?

Ah, young love. The Marvelettes…they had some really good songs.

I instantly thought of the Pure Prairie League song, “Amie.”
    Fun write!
