Will we ever get it?
Standing in the presence of countless dozens of people at George Floyd Square one is filled with an overload of thoughts and puzzled wonder.
We can fill libraries with books on how we got here and why we got here, but the most important thing to ask is what are we going to do now that we’re here.
Below the shadow of the metal fist, standing among the art and the concrete barriers, people look angry, people look sad, people look resolved to effect change thinking ‘enough is enough’; heads are bowed in silent thought and devotion, and heads are turned upward toward any number of celestial beings offering silent prayers with no expectation those prayers will ever be answered.
No expectation of answered prayers because some prayers for some people don’t seem to get answered and some things never seem to change.
So much righteous anger. What needs to happen before we learn that we need to step back from the politics and the rhetoric and take a breath – a breath denied to so many – and look at others around us as we look at ourselves and just love one another?

Stellar six.
Even handled with care, to move is to experience pain. And to cause it, with all the best of intentions. You’re right, what do we do now that we’re in the place where we are.
Hopes and prayers to fuel our ragged recovery…

“step back from the politics and the rhetoric and take a breath”
And disengage from the contagion of “outrage” and negative energy generated for the sake of ratings. Then focus on the question you pose in your 2nd sentence.
Nice to see you at the Six, Michael 🙂

Thanks Denise. I was at the Six a couple of years ago for a short time so this is a sort of return.

A moving Six, and you’re right – what are we going to do now we’re here? Although it’s ignored by many, the many others that still call to ‘love one another’ must continue to do so.

I agree and I think that’s the only thing that can be done. Change enough little things and the big things will eventually follow.

I’m with the others, most excellent return to Sixville.
(For what it’s worth, I agree with the sentiment. Maybe even take it one step further. The concept of an additional perspective is alien to most and even to those it is not is most challenging. To allow that my reality is not the sole reality demands much and returns so much more)
Good Six, yo

Thank you! I agree that different perspectives on anything can be challenging but I also believe there’s compromise in everything. As long as there’s respect, I guess.
