Remembering . . .

June 1, 2021

The Ragtag Daily Prompt for today is “widowmaker”.

It’s an appropriate word for me today because today is the fifth anniversary of the death of a close friend of mine. Ed was 65 years old when he died after suffering a widowmaker heart attack. I’m not going to eulogize him here other than to say that I miss him.

On a more positive note, it was on this day back in 1925 that Lou Gehrig stepped to the plate as a pinch hitter and played the first of his 2,632 consecutive baseball games. Moral of that story: don’t call in sick to work with a headache.

And on a happier note, I noticed that today is the third anniversary of the Ragtag Daily Prompt so happy anniversary to all of you folks listed on the blog’s “About” page who keep prompting all of us every day to do something creative with our fingers!

Sorry for your loss. Losing a good friend is often worse than a family member.

wow, thank you so much! Didn’t know it was our anniversary and had forgotten that widowmaker is the name of a heartattack: the blocked left main artery is the big killer. Men, go in for an exam at least every three years to get your blood pressure checked, cholesterol and let your doctor yell at you about drinkingdruggingandstupiding too much and wanting you to decrease caffein/alcohol/meth/cocaine/videogames/whatever and get your butt out there to walk for exercise.

Agreed! Although I’d like to reserve just a little stupiding for pizza nights. And yeah, walking is great.
