I wonder if –
Some people move through life with grace and ease, like sexy passenger ships gliding through warm blue waters toward exotic destinations and wonderful times.
I wonder if they, those fortunate warm water gliders, ever think about those who don’t know warm waters: the people for whom life is just a little bit out of focus and fraught with worries and fears and doubts and tears.
The suffering souls, the ones who live in a world of sharp crags and blurry edges, who encounter danger and uncertainty and fear and not-so-wonderful times in every heartbeat and behind every shadow, I wonder who thinks of them?
Funny thing is, they can deceive, those with sharp crags and edges, because on the outside they can disguise themselves to look just like the sexy warm water gliders so that no one, not even others who live among dangerous shadows and blurry edges, are able to recognize them.
Those hesitant actors with their safely covered scars keeping their secrets hidden and safe. And insecure.

Some days I wish I was one of those that glided through warm blue waters.
I like your take on this weeks word.

Speaking so truthfully of those who camouflage smooth lives on rough waters. Many, many actors for sure. Great six.

If there’s a rock on the bottom, I’m gonna step on it! LOL. Good six. But oddly, I can see better under water than out of it. My eyes are a bit murky.

Thank you! Do you think that ability to see underwater is a learned condition?

Yes, we who don’t glide give a great impression that we do.

Yeah, we’re very good at that. I think I know why and I don’t think it’s a very good reason.

Oh, no.Think my comment just went up in smoke!
Your SSS is quite thought provoking and well done. I believe there are many excellent thespians surrounding us every day. A sad thing to say but there probably isn’t a great percentage of gliders really giving them a thought.

Thanks Denise. And I agree, I don’t think there’s a large percentage thinking about those non-gliders. But I don’t know if that’s really their fault.

Now that was a telling piece of prose. So well written and conceptualized, Michael. A brilliant six.

Perhaps there really aren’t as many true gliders as one might think.

Just a lot of good pretenders then?

How can you know how warm the water is, if you haven’t been cold? (No, I take that back. Your post deserves more than simple relativism.) The question I like (inherent in your words) is, can you ever really disguise your self?

I don’t think it’s necessary to know the actual temperature of something to know it’s warm. Kinda like how we don’t need to know a person’s body temperature to know they offered us a warm smile or that they didn’t offer us a smile at all because they were frozen with fear. As far as imagery goes, in my mind warm waters are calmer, gentler and more peaceful than cold waters. The better question, to me, is why did I decide to leave ‘blue’ in there since it’s sort of redundant. I believe people disguise their ‘self’ every day.

The message is good, too!

Very thought provoking SSS! At first glance, it is easy to make assumptions about people as we see them at a particular moment or stage of their lives without knowing all those other parts of their journey in life. Some of them may understand more fully the challenges of others than we can imagine.
