The License Plate Game

A long, long, long, long time ago I used to play a game where I’d keep track of the out-of-state license plates I spotted during the course of a year. I don’t know why (maybe I’ve reached an age where I’m reverting back to my childhood?), but I decided to resurrect the game this year, and in the first 65 days of 2019 I’ve spotted 28 out-of-state license plates. Living in Minnesota, the first three were pretty much gimmes, but then it started to get interesting. The coolest one of the bunch so far is Alaska on February 2nd. Alaska is rare and it’s like scoring a Scrabble bingo with a ‘Z’ or ‘X’. If I can find a Hawaii that’s like scoring a Scrabble bingo with ‘Z’ or ‘X’ in the triple letter square.

Here’s a list of the states I’ve seen so far. If you’re from one of these states and were in Minnesota then maybe it was you I saw? And if you’re from one of the states not on the list and are feeling bored and in the mood for a road trip sometime in the next 300 days, drive over to Minnesota so I can see your license plate and add you to my list. Let me know you’re coming, though, so I know when to be watching and I can wave. And if you stop (or don’t run me over) we can go out to lunch or something.

Now resurrecting old childhood activities I’m off to look for a pen pals website.
