Found Conversations
I’ve blogged before (and before) about found conversations. I like them so much so that I think I consider listening for them an actual hobby.
Technically this isn’t really a found conversation because I was a part of it but I liked it nonetheless and I thought it was funny.
So I’m talking with a guy about NBA hoopster Dwyane Wade’s decision to pass up a two-year, $40 million offer from the Miami Heat and take a tw0-year, $47 million dollar offer from the Chicago Bulls. The Guy said he read that Wade did it – took the extra $7 million – because he felt it was what was best for his family. The Guy is bemoaning the fact that all athletes, and NBA players in particular, get paid too much money and he questions what we can do about it. We can, I tell The Guy, quit watching games, quit going to games and quit buying merchandise and The Guy agrees with me and says: “You’re right, but my life is so boring that I don’t have anything else to do but watch.”
I guess he’s just got a Basketball Jones, oh baby, ooh, ooh, ooooh.
