Vikings’ Loss

January 11, 2016

I’m a fan of found conversations (you might recognize these by the more common term of ‘eavesdropping’) and there’s no better field for found conversations than the morning after a loss by a beloved sports team which, thanks to the Minnesota Vikings, is today.

I’m not a football fan, I didn’t watch yesterday’s game and I don’t care if the team wins or loses. I’ll read the team news but that’s it. My only interest in football is when it ends because then the local news focus can go where it belongs: onto baseball.

So the Vikings lost yesterday and it was a particularly sad loss for the faithful. I know that because everywhere I’ve gone this morning I’ve heard people talking about it. My favorite comment so far was a message to Adrian Peterson whose fumble was a key to the team’s loss:

“Put it under your armpit, you dummy!”

Yes! Do that, you dummy!

The reply to the Armpit Man was: “Peterson’s had issues.”

That’s an understatement.
