Happy and Sad Baseball Stuff

October 27, 2015

What do you want first, the happy or the sad?

Sad baseball news: As much as I wanted Torii Hunter to retire, I felt sad when he actually announced it yesterday. This isn’t totally sad news because his retirement opens the door for the Twins to have one of the better, and certainly among the most exciting, outfields in Major League Baseball next year, and I’m positive that Hunter will be involved in some role with the team. But I’ve been following Hunter, either by watching him play or by reading box scores, for 19 years so in that sense it’s sad.Baseball

Happy baseball news: With the World Series starting tonight I just thought I’d toss out that Twins pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training on February 21 (interesting because I think this is five days later than last year) which is only 109 days away and their first spring game against the Boston Red Sox on March 2nd is only 122 days away. It seems like I just put my Twins caps away and it’s time to start dusting them off already!

No October baseball post would be complete without a prediction so here’s mine: Kansas City in five.

I was sad when your Cubs lost but at the same time I was sort of happy because the Cubs losing is one of the last baseball traditions still around.
