Yes, the Minnesota Twins are THAT bad
So, Minnesota Twins fans, it’s been a week, are you significantly depressed yet or do you have room for more anguish? I know, you’re a glutton for punishment and you want more, right? Phil Mackey of 1500ESPN.com wrote a sobering article about the state of Twins pitching and you can find it HERE.
In his article Mackey talks about the 31 pitchers (yes, you read that correctly) with major league experience the Twins have acquired in the last five years.
Thank you, Terry Ryan.
“There isn’t a team in baseball that puts out less competitive pitchers, collectively, than the Twins have over the past five seasons. Over that stretch, Twins pitchers rank last or near-last in almost every key category – strikeouts, ERA, WAR, home runs allowed, groundball rate… If the Twins’ evaluation methods determine that a 33-year-old journeyman reliever should be pitching in high-leverage situations – in the 7th or 8th innings of close games – it would seem they need to re-think how they look at pitchers.”
It’s a good read. It’s not pretty, but it is good.
Hey, the Cubs are doing great. Good for me!
