Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows….

October 23, 2012

When I started this blog my intention was to make it a good place. A place where I left my anger and negativity at the door and would only talk about good things and happy things and positive things. You’re laughing, huh? I guess you know me. Seriously though, that was my goal.

“Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows, everything that’s wonderful is sure to come your way…”

You want to know the truth? A little tidbit about me? The truth is that I generally don’t like very many people. I don’t actively dislike them or anything, but in general, people often piss me off. Like I’m reading about this high school kid in Ohio who is growing his hair out so he can cut it off once it reaches 10” and donate it to a place called “Locks of Love” which is a non-profit organization that makes wigs/hairpieces for children who suffer from long-term medical hair loss regardless of diagnosis. You don’t need me to pain you a picture of what these children are dealing with to get the idea. Oh, I forgot, these kids, they also come from families who are financially disadvantaged and would otherwise not be able to provide something like this for their child.

So, no, I’m not pissed off at this high school kid. I love this high school kid. I’m pissed off at whoever writes the policies and makes the decisions at this kid’s high school and at the ones who decided to suspend the kid from school because his hair is too long and in violation of school policy. What the hell is going through their minds? This kid is trying to make life a little better for a gravely ill child and they’re punishing him? The school should not only be rewarding him, they should be encouraging all the students to grow their hair and donate it once it reaches 10 inches.

The kid’s name is Zachary Aufderheide if you want to Google him.

You know what I’m tired of? I’m tired of wondering what the hell is wrong with the world every time I turn around.

Well, if there’s anybody out there that can look around this demented slaughterhouse of a world we live in and tell me that man is a noble creature, believe me: That man is full of bullshit. – Howard Beale

I’m also pissed off at people’s insensitivity. I’m not the world’s best conversationalist, but I’m a pretty good listener so maybe I’m a little more sensitive to the times when I’m not being listened to. Like today. I’m talking to this guy from another department about a problem we were having with a sensitive project. In the course of the conversation he mentions that one of the people involved in the programming part of the project lost her mother this past Friday. I say to him I know how difficult that is because I lost my father just this past July and what does the guy say to me? Nothing. He doesn’t say a goddamn thing to me and he just keeps on talking. In the meantime, I know more than I could ever want to know about the health problems of his two brothers and one of his sisters in law, not to mention the extent his nieces and nephews are involved in their parents’ healthcare. I really couldn’t care less about any of that but I know it all and this guy couldn’t offer me two words of sympathy.

So, yeah, I’m pissed off at everybody and everything and today this blog isn’t about good things and happy things and positive things. It’s about me being frustrated and pissed off.

At least when I get like this, I can blame it on hormones. ;O)

You’re right, though. People can be jackwagons. The guy at your work is a 5-star one, as are the policy makers/enforcers at that kid’s school.
