The Case of the Extra Hour in the Day

The Plinky Prompt of the Day: If days had 25 hours, what would you do with the extra time?

What would I do with an extra hour a day? I'd probably do what I do now which is either sleep, eat, read, make excuses not to write, watch TV or think about the next time I eat pizza all the while counting down the hours until I go back to work.

Twenty-five hours in a day makes me think of an I Love Lucy episode where Ricky put Lucy on some type of time schedule after she was (I think) late for something. I Love Lucyphiles will know the specifics of the episode but all I remember was that there was a chart and Lucy had just so much time to do the various things a wife was expected to do during the day. As it turned out, Lucy liked the idea and it was working out well for her because, as she told Ethyl, she cheated. Ethyl asked her what she meant and Lucy said she simply added an extra hour per day to the chart so she had 25 hours a day.

"Where did you get the hour?" Ethyl asked.

"From the next day. It'll all work out fine until the end of the year and then I'll be two weeks short."

If you think about it it makes pretty good sense until you run out of time at the end of the year.

A person can use the same type of logic to make money. Say for instance you buy something for $5.00. Now you've paid out $5.00, right? Okay, so the next day you go and return the item because you really didn't want it and you get your $5.00 back. Now you've got your original $5.00 back and you've saved $5.00 because you didn't spend it on the item you didn't really want. Net profit: $5.00.
