The Muppets? Seriously?

Okay, Plinky, honesty time here: when I signed up for daily prompts, I thought the prompts were going to be good! You know, nice, meaty, chewy, juicy prompts that would challenge my imagination and sharpen my writing skills. Something like… I don't know… Something like write a story that takes place during the winter in the Wild West and use the words "smoke", "spick-and-span", and "akimbo" and have at least one character cry. That would be meaty.

But what do I get? Muppets.

I'm too old for Muppets. I've never seen a Muppet television show or movie and my only familiarity with them is with the ones who have crossed over from the TV show into pop culture. Like Kermit and Miss Piggy, neither of whom, by the way, do I identify with. No, Plinky, I'm a Captain Kangaroo and Might Mouse and Yogi Bear and Jonny Quest, and Harold and the Purple Crayon kid, not a Muppets kid.

However (don't you love howevers?), I am familiar with a Muppet named Beaker who says, "Meep" all the time, and I'm familiar with him because someone once sent me a video of Beaker singing the execrable (yeah, I used a Thesaurus on that one because I couldn't think of word bad enough! And no, I can't really pronounce it.) Kansas song, "Dust in the Wind". A song so bad I can feel my eardrums start to dry up and crack whenever it starts playing. In the video, Beaker is "meeping" the song and little text pop-ups keep popping up causing poor Beaker all sorts of stress and anxiety and eventually the poor guy winds up burning the place down. Since then I've watched more Beaker videos and I've liked them.

But, Plinky, I don't identify with the guy.
