Rain, a Poem, Rain and Music and More Rain

June 20, 2012

Rain in drops and rain in sheets.
Rain puddles pooling where the sidewalk meets.
Rain is flooding homes and that is a pity, but
Rain makes the grass and the flowers look pretty.

We’re getting a lot of rain here in Minnesota. There’s a lot of flooding and flash flooding in northern Minnesota and we’re in a flash flood warning here in the Twin Cities with a chance for up to another inch of rain today. Of course the news is showing all sorts of pictures of the flooding and one of the worst, at least to me, are the sinkholes that suddenly develop. Can you imagine driving along, minding your own business and being safe, and all of a sudden the road beneath you drops down and you’re swallowed up in a sink hole?

There are a lot of songs with “rain” in the title. Here’s a Link-o-Rama of rain songs and I’m sure I missed a bunch so feel free to add to the list if you want.

Singing in the Rain
Looks Like Rain
Let it Rain
Kentucky Rain
I’m Only Happy When it Rains
Here Comes the Rain Again
Purple Rain
It Never Rains in Southern California
Listen to the Rhythm of the Falling Rain
The Rain, The Park and Other Things
Fire and Rain
Early Morning Rain
Laughter in the Rain
I Wish it Would Rain
Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Rainy Days and Mondays
Rainy Night in Georgia
If I Only Had a bRain
Desperados Waiting on a tRain
and last but not least, by the same group, Have You Ever Seen the Rain

and

All these rain songs makes me think that writing about the rain might be the short path to writing and publishing success.

Joke of the Day:
Guy 1: Hey I hope the rain keeps up.
Guy 2: Why?
Guy 1: Because then it won’t come down!

Once again I have been exposed to the news I would normally not watch and yesterday was all about the falling trees.

I do believe I did see one segment about a part of a road collapsing because of the rain also.

Good read. Is “Rain Drops Keep Falling on My Head” as song title or just part of a song? I am horrible with names, titles and especially dates.

    Write on!

      That’s a title and that’s a good one, Renae!

Beatles – Rain, should have been in there. I’ve made a list myself. Do tell me what you think http://bit.ly/LG5uLB
