Walking for Photos or Man that Sun is Hot on My Head

The Weekly Photo Challenge –

Today! This week’s theme is a bit different (but you like that, don’t you?) – it’s about TODAY. This day. The day you’re reading and reacting to this post. No rules or guidance on what to post other than the photo must be taken today! Don’t cheat, don’t go into your photo archives on your computer, don’t link to an old post. Get your camera out, right now, and snap a picture to share with everyone!

I thought this week’s Weekly Photo Challenge was a little odd in the sense that I didn’t find it very inspiring. However, it did get me out walking! I walked at some places I’ve never been before and my face got sunburned and I had fun taking some pictures. One of the more unique sights I saw – in addition to people playing cricket (who knew they played cricket in Minneapolis?) – was this amazing flock of flamingos. This herd was spotted just across the street from Minneapolis’ Lake of the Isles and I’m guessing these stately birds must have been crossing the lawn on their way to the water.

There used to be a local band here a long time ago called Flamingo and then they changed their name to the Flamin’ Ohs. If you’re around my age you might have even danced to them. Good old days.

Oh, your flamingos are almost as cool as my guineas were. But that wouldn’t count as I couldn’t take a picture of them today. I left my guys back in Alabama. But they were cool.

They too tended to walk in a line. And if the guy in back got too far away from those in front, oh would he freak.

As for the photo and the walking, good for you. Today has been beautiful. I am glad you got out to enjoy some of it.

    Have a great day!

And I thought flamingos were tropical birds. Good sense of humor.

    Flamingos!
I have never danced to The Flamingos or with one. I guess that makes me younger.
While driving today I was forced down alternative streets in the name of detours under the pretense of construction.

Upon (now that is an interesting word, upon. Ah, that is for yet another day.) turning around after finding myself on yet another dead-end street I spotted two lawn animals – deer, male and female. They were worn, and quite smaller than Bambi and friends.
I thought, Who would really want those in their yard?
Deer in Minnesota brings up thoughts of car damage or Lyme disease.
    I’d rather have flamingos.

They are colorful and I always want to laugh out loud when I see them.
Sorry, I have no photos of the small, worn deer statues. Thank goodness.
Instead, think of a flock of flamingos and giggle.

    Enjoyed your post!
