Weekly Photo Challenge: Unusual

March 21, 2012

This weeks Weekly Photo Challenge:
Share a picture that means UNUSUAL to you!

This was a fun challenge for me because I like looking for unusual things. However, what’s unusual for one person might not be unusual for another person. For that other person, unusual might cross over into the land of disturbing which could be the case with the last picture I’ve included. But don’t worry; I’ll give you ample time to turn back before you look at it.

I took this picture a long time ago and it’s not a particularly good picture, but because it’s a water tower shaped like an ear of corn I file it under ‘unusual’ and included it. The tower is located in Rochester, Minnesota.

Yawn, right? Yeah, I know, it’s boring.

The next picture is a new arrival in my grocery store’s produce department. It is the Sumo citrus. I saw them for the first time on Sunday but I didn’t get one because I’m a somewhat fussy eater and appearance is as important to me as taste and considering how ugly these things looked with that coarse, pitted skin and then that weird bump on the end I passed them by because they looked too disturbing to eat. I read about them when I got home and realized I can’t always judge an orange by its rind and I may have made a mistake passing them by. Anyway, they’re unusual looking.

Still at the grocery store (are you picking up a food theme here or is it just me?) the next picture is of a frozen treat that isn’t unusual, but I think the artwork on the package is a little bit unusual. I’m not really sure what they’re trying to sell and maybe they’re trying to appeal to a couple of different markets. Here, in all their excited glory – and unusual packaging – are Diana’s Banana Babies. (The packaging: is it just me?)

The fourth picture is something I found unusual. It was on the sidewalk outside of my home and it’s an enormous bird dropping. Bird droppings on sidewalks aren’t really unusual and what made this one stand out is (like Diana’s Banana Babies) the size and the fact that the “stuff” appears to me to be in the shape of a running dog. A big dog. Maybe an Airdale Terrier or something?

Okay, now that I’ve offended all Airdale Terriers and their owners, here’s the picture I mentioned earlier that might cross over from unusual to disturbing. It’d debateable because, as you know, this stuff is objective, but you’ve been warned and forewarned is fore something or other…

It’s not too late to turn back.

Turn back now!

No Tresspassing!

Go Away!

All right. You’ve stayed which means you’re either a brave soul to have ventured this far or you’re simply insane and people should cross the street to avoid meeting you. The last unusual photo is the most unusual of all. The last photo is yours truly.

That’s it! Please feel free to leave a comment below and don’t hesitate to leave a link to your reponse to the prompt.

Thank you! That’s one of the nicest compliments I can receive. Assuming “Looking” doesn’t follow “Funny”!

I was drawn to your orange photo because I just this past weekend discovered the Sumo orange myself. They are delish. Equally strange is the Cara Cara orange, which I only bought because I have a sister named Cara.

I am, however, perplexed by your decision to mix poop and food into the same blog post. 😀

I’m going to get some when I’m back at the store. Good point about the poop/food mix.

Hi Cee! In the upper-left corner of the little fish tank is the designer’s name and if you go to his website he has all sorts of different things like that for WordPress blogs.

LOL, these pictures are awesome. I had a hard time find one unusual picture, but you managed to find 5 pictures. Love it.

I while back, I wrote a post on Things I’ve Learned From Arrested Development. I loved that show. i can’t wait until the 4th season and movie comes out! No word on when that will be, but I hope it’s soon.

GOB: “This is a $3,000 suit, COME ON!” LOL

For me AD was maybe the funniest show I’ve ever seen. I’ll have to go and find your post and see what it is you’ve learned! Do you also watch Up All Night?

No, I haven’t seen Up All Night? Is it good? I liked The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret. Well, I’ve only seen one episode, but I’m dying to watch more.

Are you excited about AD’s additional season AND movie. OMG, I can’t wait. GOB is my second favorite character. My absolutely favorite AD character has to be Buster. He is so funny. I love randomly yelling out, “I am a monster!”

I like it. It took me a couple of episodes to get into, but after that I was pretty much hooked. Will Arnett is in it which is what makes the show for me. I also like Buster a lot and I’m also excited about the AD movie but I didn’t know about the additional season so that’s good news!
