It’s NaBloPoMo Time Again
If it’s November 1st it must be NaBloPoMo time again. Where did the year go?
National Blog Posting Month began in November 2006 as a blogging counterpart to NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and the concept is simple: post one blog entry per day for 30 days. That’s it. Just do that and you win! Okay, you don’t really win anything, but you do get the satisfaction of knowing that you committed to something and followed through with it and that’s a good feeling. And in reality, I think maybe you might win something because it’s possible the people who run NaBloPoMo pick blogs at random and give out homemade gifts that were donated by members. I could be wrong about that, I don’t know. If you make it to day 30 let me know and I’ll personally give you a laurel and hearty handshake.
NaBloPoMo has moved to a new site this year. The event is now found on BlogHer and that will take a little getting used to for me because based on what I read on the BlogHer website, it’s pretty much a site for women. They say men are welcome, and my membership to the site was approved, so we’ll see what happens. It’s a nice site, much nicer than the old NaBloPoMo site which was, for the most part, inactive, so I’m optimistic.
The best part of being involved in NaBloPoMo last year was reading all the different blogs and meeting new people. I also found I enjoyed blogging and I wound up posting for a couple of months after NaBloPoMo ended. I hope to have the same positive experiences this year.
That’s it for day one and thanks for reading. One down, twenty-nine to go!
I’m going to try it again too Michael. See you on Blogher.

There are some pretty good prizes this year ($50 visa gift cards to name one). I’m still figuring out the BlogHer site but it seems to be much better organized. And men are totally welcome.

I could deal with one of those $50 gift cards! I’m also still working on figuring the site out. The old site was easy. I like easy.

A Laurel and Hardy handshake! That is one of my favorite lines in a movie full of favorites!
I haven’t figured BlogHer out – heck! I haven’t even figured my blog out! I just made my first post today!
