The Palace
“Where are you?”
“I’m in Indiana. . .”
“Jones?”
Static.
I lost communication as I fell into the secret chamber. Sliding feet-first down the tunnel like buckshot I landed like warm pudding on the linoleum floor. A door led me outside to a land full of colorful trees and flowers. A short man, shorter than a dingo, in green coat and top hat approached.
“How do I get out of here?” I asked.
“Dubloon!” His voice was high-pitched.
“I don’t have any money. . .”
“DUBLOON!” he pointed.
I turned and saw a majestic hot-air balloon labeled “Omaha State Fair”.
