Hu’s In Town
Seems some guy from China is in town. Chinese President Hu Jintao is in Washington meeting with President Obama to talk about all sorts of presidential stuff. The news reports refer to the Chinese president as President Hu and every time I hear them report his name I can’t not think of Abbott and Costello’s famous Who’s on First routine.
“Hey, did you hear the big news?”
“What’s that?”
“The Chinese president is in Washington!”
“Who?”
“That’s right.”
“What’s right?”
“Hu’s in town.”
“I don’t know who’s in town. Who?”
“Yes.”
“Yes, what?”
“You’re right about who’s in town.”
“Who’s in town?”
“That’s right.”
“What’s right?”
“Hu’s in town.”
“I don’t know who’s in town.”
“Hu.”
“I’m asking you who’s in town!”
“That’s the man’s name.”
“That’s who’s name?”
“Yes.”
“WHY WON’T YOU TELL ME HIS NAME?”
“I did. Hu is in town.”
“I DON’T KNOW WHO’S IN TOWN!”
The saddest part of this is that I can see the 21st century’s political equivalent of Abbott and Costello, Palin and Bachmann, really having this conversation. Worse, I can hear Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity defending it.
hehe
Kinda silly, but really funny joke!

Apparently you weren’t alone because both Letterman & Craig Fergason did bits about Hu with a Who’s on 1st homage last night and those were the only ones I watched. One can assume other late night comics may have also done the same since that name is too hard to resist.

It’s obvious that both Letterman and Ferguson have hacked into my computer and have been reading my drafts! Oh well, no one to blame but myself for not taking the proper precautions, I guess. Apparently President Hu plays the drum and will be sitting in with The Hu before he heads home.
