How about that weather, huh?
Where I’m at, just outside of downtown Minneapolis, we got about 5” overnight and the forecast is for another 6” – 10” during the day today with 30+ mph winds.

On the positive side, Minnesota Twins pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training in only 68 days. Position players in 73 days. And what is it with the Twins trading away J.J. Hardy for two minor league prospects? A middle infield of untested Alexi Casilla and Tsuyoshi Nishioka with no real back-up makes me nervous.
Anyway, what does one do during a blizzard. My car is in the garage so I don’t have to worry about that when the plows eventually arrive. I’ve got food, a couple of books and a stockpile of crossword puzzles. Assuming the power doesn’t go out when the winds pick up, it should be pretty much like every other weekend for me only whiter. The #20 ranked Minnesota Gophers (7-1) are still scheduled to play their game against Eastern Kentucy at noon so that’s good and there’s even a Bowery Boys movie on Turner Classic Movies this morning.
One of the local news stations, WCCO Television, is going wall-to-wall with storm coverage which is interesting, and the weatherman, Mike Augustyniak , is either really excited about this whole thing or running on a lot of coffee.
If you want to see what roads look like during a heavy snowfall and see how great of a job Mn/DOT does getting the highways and freeways around the Twin Cities metro area cleared and keeping them cleared, you can go here and click on any of the black dots and see the camera in that location. Those drivers are amazing and regardless of the amount of snow we get today, by Monday, it’ll be like it never snowed. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case in all areas of the state though as plows have been pulled off the roads about 90 miles southwest of the Twin Cities because of blowing and drifting snow.
If you’re anywhere in the snow area and reading this, be careful!

Moving that much snow is a mountain of a job. Chicago does a fair job, but the state and county plows on the major highways are pros at it! That website to watch the snowplows is a good way to pass the time if you are bored. I just kept clikking on dots…very cool!
As far as the Gecko, why didn’t he run? Watching those little guys carrying off the little bones was hysterical. I wish the film clip had audio, can you imagine what the little ant foremen were saying? And what do you think they did with the head?

I was wondering what they did with the head, too! I can’t imagine they eat it but maybe they do? They actually pulled the plows off the road this afternoon because of the blowing which is probably a good idea. There’ll be more than enough snow for them tomorrow! I think this storm is heading to the southeast so be on the looklut!

I love storms like what you’re having. Sure, they’re totally dangerous if you’ve got to be out in them but otherwise? Complete bliss being all snug drinking hot drinks, reading books, watching old movies, and eating bad-for-you snax.
We’ve gotten a 1/2″ of snow all season.
I want a snow day.
PS Our local news is carrying a breaking news story about your dome collapsing. Now that is scary stuff.
