Take a Deep Breath

December 8, 2010

Take a deep breath.

Relax.

I’ve been trying to practice Mindful Meditation for a few months now. I say trying to practice because I know I’ll never master the process and I just hope that at some point in time I’ll be able to actually do it and make it a part of my life.

Sitting quietly and breathing. Who would think something like that could be so difficult?

Do you meditate? If you do, please leave me a comment and let me know what form of meditation you practice and how you do with it.

Below are the two books I’ve read and I thought both of them were good. The first was a nice introduction with a lot of helpful tips and the second was an excellent manual with tons of useful information.

8 Minute Meditation: Quiet Your Mind. Change Your Life, by Victor Davich
Mindfulness in Plain English, by Bhante Henepola Gunaratana

Here’s an interesting article from NPR. Just Breathe: Body Has A Built-In Stress Reliver

A Loving Friendliness meditation:

“May we also have patience, courage, understanding, and determination to meet and overcome inevitable difficulties, problems and failures in life. May we always rise above them with morality, integrity, forgiveness, compassion, mindfulness and wisdom.” – Bhante Henepola Gunaratana
