The Horn Blows at (90 minutes before) Sunrise

November 10, 2010

I’m driving to work this morning, motoring along behind the car in front of me, minding my own business when a car passes in the left lane. That’s not unusual because the highway I take into downtown is usually a raceway at that time of the morning. The driver honks the horn when passing and I look over but I’m too late to see who’s in the car. I thought maybe I did something wrong but I can’t think what it might have been and then I started wondering if maybe someone, as a practical joke, put a “Honk if You’re Horny” bumper sticker on my car and I maybe just missed out on the opportunity of a lifetime. I got to work and checked and there was no bumper sticker. No missed opportunity unless you think that not pulling into the parking lot at work and getting onto 94-west and driving until I ran out of gas and seeing where I’d wind up a missed opportunity.

I’m not a very impulsive person and I envy those who are. Pizza on a weekday might be about the limit of my impulsivity. How about you, are you impulsive and if so, in what ways?

Maybe I should start with a bumper sticker?

I’ve never been impulsive or spontaneous, not even when I was young. If I could change one thing about myself, that might be it! I’m much to careful and cautious. When we’d pack to go on a family vacation with our kids, I’d spend days worrying about what to bring. When we finally headed out of town, I’d be exhausted from packing and organizing.

Same here, Marianne. I’d like to be more impulsive and just take things as they come.
