Who is John Boehner?
I thought this was an interesting poll.
According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation Poll, John Boehner, the man soon to be the Speaker of the House and third most powerful person in the nation, isn’t a very well known, or a very popular, person.
CNN/Opinion Research Corporation Poll. Oct. 27-30, 2010. N=1,006 adults nationwide. Margin of error ± 3. |

“We’d like to get your overall opinion of some people in the news. As I read each name, please say if you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of these people — or if you have never heard of them. House Republican Leader John Boehner.” |

Favorable | Unfavorable | Never heard of | Unsure | |||
% | % | % | % | |||

This 62% who don’t like him or don’t know him, maybe they’re understandable since it’s a national poll and I don’t think a lot of people are familiar with politicians outside of their state or city although John Boehner as the House Minority Leader gets a fair amount of news time. But even going locally in his home state of Ohio, this Public Policy Polling poll shows Boehner as not very popular. Page two, questions four and five.“And in bad news for Minority Leader John Boehner, only 28% of his home-state voters want him to become Speaker if Republicans take back the U.S. House, with 44% preferring “someone else.” GOP voters do support Boehner for Speaker, but only by a 54-15 margin. Democrats, who would not vote for a Republican majority anyway, oppose him, 73-6, and independents, 41-22.” |
Who is John Boehner? No on Choice. No on stimulus spending. No on the economic recovery package. No on Civil Rights. No on gay rights (including enforcement against anti-gay hate crimes). No on public education funding. No on solutions leading to energy independence. No on the environment (maybe he really does live on another planet?). No on dislocated workers. No on gun control (including trigger locks). No on public health care. No to the minimum wage being raised. No to unions. No to separation of church and state. No to a progressive tax system. No to public assistance for the poor. No, no, no, no, no, no, no no. Yes on the Death Penalty. Yes to war. Yes on continuing the war on drugs. Yes on school prayer.
The third most powerful person in the nation.
