It was no surprise that Detective Timmons was at the door.
Jenny Timmons, first female in her class to make detective; a fact she let everyone know. Standing in my doorway, sun behind her, I saw the faint outline of an arrogant smile on her face.
“Angela. Hope I didn’t disturb you.”
“Not at all, Jenny. Care for a drink?”
“This isn’t a social call.”
“Oh?”
“We’re looking for anyone who might have seen something suspicious last night. Gus Brown’s house was robbed.”
“Sorry, I can’t help you, dear.”
A shame she wasn’t looking for her husband because he was easy to find. Johnny Timmons was waiting upstairs in my bedroom.
